Rainy day

Her words were laced with carelessly dropped hints that he never picked up. He saw the cold, hard words as they were and never thought to dissect them to see the pain hidden beneath. Perhaps one day, he will see the hidden seams in those seemingly meaningless words, and he will discover another world within - one filled with disappointment and sadness and loneliness; one which he failed to step into until it was too late.
